Malaria Prevention

Kenya has 70 malaria-prone districts, with most infections occurring in the areas around Lake Victoria where Rarieda District lies. Every June after the rains and during the time of harvest, the area experiences a dramatic rise in the number of malaria infections. Malaria awareness programs between March and June can, therefore, reduce the predictable July rise in malaria infection, particularly in vulnerable populations.

Our objective is to combat malaria, with particular emphasis on children and pregnant mothers, through use of treated bed nets and through prevention awareness campaigns. The awareness campaigns are done through CHW work described on the community strategy page. We also engage children in sports activities and games that integrate malaria prevention messages.

HOW YOU COULD HELP US TO HELP THE COMMUNITY

Please support our fight against malaria. One treated net costs $2. A leather ball with malaria slogans costs $20.
